RUDEP is involved in a range of activities centred on its rural development and poverty reduction focus. The links below provide highlights of RUDEP’s core approaches for poverty reduction and rural development in Quang Ngai Province:



Social Economic Planning Process

A decentralized approach to Commune planning that merges household priorities with all available funds of Government, donor and NGO projects and programs.



Commune Development Funds

Commune People’s Committees manage Commune Development Funds (CDFs) provided by RUDEP that are allocated to each Commune for Economic, Social and Infrastructure priorities of households.



Small-Scale Rural Infrastructure

Small-scale infrastructure projects are identified by households in Village Planning Meetings that support income generation in the community.



Capacity building

RUDEP’s Capacity Building System aims to raise the capacities of local officials at Provincial, District and Commune levels through providing training that responds to their job requirements and training needs.



Monitoring and Evaluation

A Management Information System (MIS) provides time-series data on key aspects of the Program to assist management and continual improvement of Program activities with RUDEP stakeholders.



Village Savings and Credit Facilities (VSCFs)

Seed capital is provided by RUDEP to establish a revolving credit fund that provides poor households with an avenue to deposit savings and obtain loans to support income generating activities.



Participatory Forest Land Allocation Process (PFLAP)

Forest land use planning and land allocation that involves the participation of households and provides a foundation for improved forest land management in Quang Ngai Province.



Marketing

RUDEP developed a Marketing Strategy to implement identified marketing opportunities whereby poor and isolated households in Quang Ngai Province can benefit from increased marketing awareness and increased marketing capacity within institutions.



Participatory Agricultural Extension Methodologies (PAEM)

RUDEP and DARD are currently conducting a capacity building program for Provincial and District Extension Staff that focuses on the application of Participatory Agricultural Extension Methodologies to trial and transfer technologies to poor households.
